- 1Upload the PDF you want to strip hidden text from.
- 2Pick a cleaning scope: ActualText/Alt only, safe, or everything.
- 3Download the cleaned document — visible content stays exactly as it was.
Frequently asked questions
- How does safe mode differ from full?
- Safe mode removes microtype, off-page text, and white text but leaves the invisible layer alone — that is usually a scan's OCR layer, without which the document stops being searchable. Full mode removes that too.
- Will visible text disappear?
- No. Only fragments classified as hidden are removed; the visible page content is untouched.
- What happens to ActualText?
- The /ActualText and /Alt keys themselves are stripped while the painted glyphs stay in place, so the document looks identical.
